Today we went to the King Richard's Faire, spent too much money, and had a lot of fun. I opted to wear the pants and belt I bought last week for a more pirate-y look. Any reason to dress like a pirate. Arrrrr!
And I got to take my sword down off of the wall and carry it around, which was fun.
We watched several shows, including two shows of people dressed like pirates singing, and a gypsy dancing show, and a tiger show. Also, there was cheesecake, and mead. Mmmmm...

"Gather ye lords and ladies fair....
...Come with me to the Renaissance Faire..."
Yep, it's that time of year again, and my friend and I garbed ourselves up and headed for the Connecticut Renaissance Faire for a day of feasting, shopping, and general silliness.

B-day celebrations
Thanks again to everyone who came out to help me celebrate my birthday. I love you guys!
BTW: these photos were taken with a single use digital camera. Considering how bad the lighting conditions are in the club, I am very impressed with the way the pictures came out...a little red eye, but that's to be expected. They certainly came out better than any of the film pictures I have taken there, which tend to be grainy and washed out.

Colors of Autumn
This is my favorite time of the year, when everything is full of color, and the world smells of dead leaves, dirt and smoke.

Wedding photos
Two very dear friends of mine got married today. Sadly, my camera had difficulty focusing in the low lighting conditions in both the church and the reception hall, so I didn't get many pictures....and none of the shots of the bride and groom came out. =( I'll have to hope that some other people got better pictures than I did.

The Quabbin
Spent part of the day relaxing in the sunshine at the Quabbin. It was a perfect day. Warm, sunny, and just the right amount of cool breezes. Small fish schooled near the shoreline, the dragonflies flitted about the water, and the butterflies fluttered around the rocks. We found a nice piece of grass to spread a blanket and spent a happy couple of hours soaking up the quiet.

If I had a hammer....
..obviously I'd break it.
My roommate and I decided to pull the carpeting up from the stairs in our apartment. The carpet tack strips had not done a very good job of holding the carpeting in place, but they were very attached to the stairs. While prying one strip up from the floor, my roomie tried to use a stair as a fulcrum to get more leverage, and the hammer bent. The strip of wood stayed firmly nailed to the floor. Oops.
Probably the makers of the hammer did not intend it to be used in such a fashion.
